Background checks in Minnesota

State reporting rules

Legal review required

A state-specific summary for Minnesota is being prepared and will be published after legal review. Until then, the federal FCRA baseline applies as the minimum standard.

FCRA baseline

The FCRA requires a standalone disclosure, written authorization and a two-step adverse action process. Non-conviction records older than seven years generally aren't reportable unless the position pays $75,000 or more.
